The official roadside viewing area for the Marfa Lights, 9 miles east of Marfa on US 90 toward Alpine. It's free, open after dark, and faces the stretch of horizon where student physicists showed in 2004 that at least some of the lights were car headlights on US 67.

Boulia Shire Council's visitor centre and show about the Min Min light, the outback light said to follow travellers across western Queensland's Channel Country. A University of Queensland vision scientist proposed in 2003 that it's a mirage carried over the horizon by a temperature inversion.

A Forest Service log-cabin visitor center on AZ 260 and a 4.3-mile trail along the edge of the Mogollon Rim, about 2.5 miles of it paved. The visitor center is seasonal and is likely closed now; the trail runs beside drops of 150 feet or more.

A free day-use Forest Service interpretive site north of Payson, where a short trail passes the stone wall footings of a village people lived in from about A.D. 1000 to 1250. It's archaeology and public history, and a fragile site.

Frank Pendley's homestead apple farm in Oak Creek Canyon, now a state park known for the natural sandstone water slide in the creek. The swim area has reopened after the 2026 Pocket Fire closures, but the nearby West Fork of Oak Creek stays closed through Oct. 31.

A travertine arch 183 feet high over a 400-foot tunnel on Pine Creek, between Payson and Pine. It may be the largest natural travertine bridge in the world. Its famous 'discovery' story is one the park's own history page treats as legend.
